Rapid Increase of COVID-19 Cases in LaPorte County

In LaPorte County, the health department reports the county is seeing a rapid increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. A news release from the LaPorte County Health Department says LaPorte County has logged 500 new cases of COVID-19 per week this month and strongly recommends masks be worn indoors in public places, regardless of vaccination status. LaPorte County is in the highest category of community spread. Officials also said unvaccinated individuals account for an overwhelming percentage of recent hospitalizations and many of the deaths associated with COVID-19 infection.
