Goodwill’s Centers for Career Connections are offering the NorthStar Digital Literacy Project Basic Computer Skills Certification. In the training you will complete numerous tasks that will be assessed online through self-guided modules. Included are basic computer digital literacy standards and modules in the areas of Basic Computer Use, Internet Basics, Windows and Mac Operating Systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint along with email, social media and Information Literacy. Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond and Platinum level certificates are offered upon demonstrating competency and passing each level.

Are you having frustration finding employment? Are you unfamiliar with filling out job applications? Do you know how to make the first impression during the interview? Any questions or concerns you have about employment, bring them to Motivational Wednesday at the Gary Community Career Center.
Basic Computer Skills Workshop

Do you have complications with the computer? Do you want to learn how to use the computer on a basic level? Feel free to attend the Basic Computer Skills Workshop to learn the basics of the computer starting with the mouse and ports. Classes are offered twice a month and you can take an assessment to earn a certificate upon completion. Basic Computer Skills can include Basic Computer Use, Internet Basics, Windows and Mac Operating Systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint along with Email, Social Media and Information Literacy.
WorkOne Hiring Event
• Thursday, February 17th / 11:00 am to 3:00 pm
WorkOne will host a Hiring Event at the Gary Center for Career Connections to fill various positions in Northwest Indiana. Individuals will have the opportunity to speak directly with employers as well as complete applications. Hiring Events will be held every 3rd Thursday at the Center for Career Connections.
All Center for Career Connections Events are free and open to the public. The Larry Neff Center for Career Connections in Gary is at the corner of West Ridge and Clark Roads.

Assessments will be offered in the focus areas of critical thinking, attention to detail, problem solving, data entry, customer focus and bookkeeping.
The Basics of YouTube
• Tuesday, February 15th / 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
YouTube is a social media site that hosts videos which can range from entertaining to educational to motivating and anything in between. Learning how to use YouTube can open a whole new world with how-to videos, product reviews, comedy videos, and so much more. The workshop will go over the basics of creating an account, navigating the interface, watching videos, creating a YouTube channel, and setting up custom channel URL.
Interviewing 101
• Tuesday, February 22nd / 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
The workshop will review what to do, what not to do, how to prepare, common questions that come up, and more. There will also be time to practice one-on-one interviews.
