A ceremonial groundbreaking Tuesday in downtown Valparaiso for new workforce housing. Developers for Uptown Apartments, city reps and non-profit partners kicked off the transformation of shared student housing to 119 new units including modern kitchens with new appliances, walk-in closets and group spaces including fitness facilities and game rooms. A release yesterday said while anyone may qualify to live at Uptown, the newly remodeled one and two-bedroom units in the two buildings closest to Lincolnway will be discounted to serve residents who meet income guidelines.
