In Crown Point, the city’s nighttime St. Patrick’s Day parade returns this week after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The parade steps off at dusk this Thursday, March 17 in the downtown square. Vendors will be on the square from 3-9 p.m. City officials remind motorists that multiple road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect beginning at noon tomorrow for the celebration. Mayor David Uran, who started the parade when he took office in 2008, said the event usually draws thousands to the city. For a complete list of closures, visit the City of Crown Point’s website, www.crownpoint.in.gov .
The City of Crown Point also will host a drive-thru only Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at the Crown Point Fire Department, located at 126 N. East St.
The dinners will be prepared by True BBQ & Whiskey Bar this year and cost $12 for adults; $10 for senior citizens; and $7 for children. The meal includes corned beef, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, bread, a dessert and a beverage. Meals will be available for day-of purchase only on a first-come, first-serve basis.
