Valparaiso City Services – Utilities Fire Hydrant Flushing Program

In Valparaiso, City Services Utilities Division will start unidirectional flushing of water mains on Monday, May 2nd which they say improves overall water quality and sustains the integrity of the water distribution system. The north side of Valparaiso will be flushed with Evans Avenue as a dividing line. Flushing will be between 7 am and 4 pm and will take about eight weeks to complete. In the event there’s discolored water, residents are advised to run cold water in the bathtub for five to ten minutes, and if the problem persists or if you have any other questions to call the Customer Service Center at (219) 462-6174.
