A record-breaking day of hot weather in the Region yesterday, and one year ago on the same date we saw a record low. According to National Weather Service data, the temperature reached 90-degrees in Valparaiso Wednesday, breaking the previous record high of 89-degrees for May 11th set in 2006 and 2011. In contrast, last year on May 11th, it was 52, several degrees cooler than normal. In fact last year on May 11th Valpo saw a record cold temp of 36-degrees. Chicago also hit 90 yesterday, breaking its record of 89 set in 1982. Yesterday also marked the earliest date that temperatures reached 90-degrees at O’Hare since 2011.
