In Gary, Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) says 7th Avenue will be temporarily closed and detoured between Floyd and Lake Street in Miller for the next six weeks starting tomorrow Thursday May 19 for sewer work. The detour is expected to run through June 30, but could extend to July 19 depending on construction progress. The work is necessary for the South Shore Line’s Double Track Northwest Indiana project which is adding a second track between Gary and Michigan City. The detour will use Floyd Street and Miller Avenue. Access to NICTD’s Miller Station will be maintained.
Eastbound traffic would follow the red arrows. Westbound traffic would follow the blue arrows.
