Retired Gary Diocese Bishop Dale J. Melczek Passes Away

The Catholic Diocese of Gary today announced that the Most Reverend Dale J. Melczek, Third Bishop of the Diocese of Gary, passed away this morning at the age of 83. He celebrated 30 years in the diocese this past Friday. Melczek retired in 2014. Visitation will take place this Sunday, August 28 and resume Monday morning, August 29, followed by morning prayer. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 am Monday. The diocese said all liturgies are open to the public and will be livestreamed on the Diocesan YouTube channel.
