UPDATE: A post at the City of Valparaiso’s Facebook page says the event has been rescheduled to Wednesday, October 19, 4pm, due to anticipated rainy weather in the forecast.
In Valparaiso, the city will host an Art Walk and Talk on ‘My Rescue’. The Valparaiso Art Walk at Cumberland Crossing is now in its 11th season and the current exhibit on display through May 2023 features a variety of more than 40 colorful “My Rescue” dog and cat and flower sculptures by artist Martha Cares of Sawyer, Michigan. Cares will share insights and lead the free Walk and Talk, //Tuesday October 11th, at 4 pm// — rescheduled to Wednesday Oct 19, 2022, 4pm due to expected rainy conditions. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and meet near the BikeShare bike rack on Cumberland Crossing just south of the YMCA parking lot. Light refreshments will be served including coffee provided by Biggby Coffee. The Art Walk is marking over a decade thanks to the Valparaiso Redevelopment Commission and community sponsors. The city said Cares is gaining acclaim in the world of Pop Art for the simplicity, spontaneity and honesty of her work. Her iconic red My Rescue Dog is recognized nationally as a symbol of rescue education and awareness.
