Meteorologists say there’s an elevated fire danger in areas of the Region today and a large portion of Indiana. Red Flag Warnings have been issued for numerous counties south of Northwest Indiana across central and southern portions of the Hoosier state that include cities like West Lafayette and Indianapolis which indicate critical fire weather conditions are occurring or will soon. The National Weather Service says despite recent rainfall in Northwest Indiana and Chicago Metropolitan Area over the past couple of days, the threat of fire spread comes from windy conditions and low relative humidity. “Additional elevated to near critical fire weather conditions are expected on Friday afternoon,” the National Weather Service Chicago said at their website.
