In Crown Point, officials say over the past two weeks the city has received overwhelming community support for its Adopt a Family program. At Monday’s City Council meeting, Crown Point Mayor Pete Land and Entertainment Superintendent Diana Bosse acknowledged the various community stakeholders who have donated to this year’s program. The program provides local families in need with food, clothing, toys and personal care products and household items for the holidays. Funds collected include a $10,000 donation from the Crown Point Community Foundation. This year, the city said it will assist 15 families and 50 children selected by the Crown Point School Corporation — the most participants in the program’s 14-year history.
“It warms my heart to see our local business community, residents and city employees embrace these families during the holiday,”said Mayor Land. “Without community support, we would not be able to provide these families with a Christmas to remember. We appreciate everyone who has donated to make this program a huge success.”
“The response to this year’s Adopt a Family program has allowed us to help even more families than normal,” said Bosse. “I cannot thank our sponsors enough for everything they have done to ensure these local families will have a great Christmas.”
A news release from the City of Crown Point sent out a thank you to the Crown Point Community Foundation; Centier Bank; Crown Point Toys and Collectibles; Culver’s of Crown Point; i4D Event Services; Janus Fire Systems; NIPSCO; Strack & Van Til; Taco Depot; Taft Middle School; Tavern on Main; Timothy Ball Elementary School; TML Deals; Twisted Sugar of Crown Point; Various City Employees and Residents; and Wheeler Middle School for selflessly raising funds, providing gifts and/or collecting food to provide each family with a special holiday.
