Students are safe and under no immediate threat. Members of the Porter County Sheriff Department, Valparaiso Police Department and Fire Department are on site and coordinating with VCS and VHS Administrators to determine appropriate next steps. Please refrain from reporting to the high school until the situation is resolved. More communication will come as more information is available.
Update from Valparaiso Police:
Community Alert – Update
The Porter County Sheriff Department, Valparaiso Police Department and Valparaiso Fire Department have indicated that there is no immediate threat to student or staff safety. However, given the level of disruption for students and staff, VHS students will be dismissed from school at or around 10:45 a.m. today. Normal parent pickup and bus transportation procedures will be used. We ask that all vehicles promptly move from the front of VHS to enable buses to be in place for the conclusion of school today.
