The Indiana Department of Transportation is celebrating Earth Day with a roadside trash pick-up event. “Trash Bash” is a chance for volunteers to help beautify the state’s roadsides, which is back this year for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic. “Trash Bash” will take place Friday, April 21st through Sunday, April 23rd, and is expected to collect thousands of filled bags. INDOT says they will invest nearly $32 million into mowing, litter pick-up and herbicide applications along state highways and interstates this year. Participants in the three-day event will be connected with an INDOT representative, and will receive an assigned clean-up location, a briefing on roadside safety, and collection bags.
