Indiana Dunes National Park has partnered with other entities to create a new trail that shares stories of dunes ecology and Native American culture. The Indiana Dunes Indigenous Cultural Trail will be highlighted by exhibits, sculptures, new shelters and educational programming. Indiana Dunes Tourism, the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi and the Field museum have agreed to partner with the national park, and the public is being asked to chip in and help raise $50,000 to complete additional trail components, including a fire pit, program area and colorful crosswalks and new, accessible sidewalks. Donations received through May 15th will be matched 100-percent by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority.
