The National Weather Service is confirming that nearly a dozen tornadoes hit the Chicago area Wednesday evening. At least eleven tornadoes touched down, downing trees and power lines and damaging homes and businesses, meteorologists said. The locations include Cicero, Huntley, Elgin, Barrington, Long Grove, Des Plaines, Glendale Heights, Streamwood and near O’Hare International Airport. There have been no reports of injuries.
