Winter Solstice Hike at Indiana Dunes National Park

In Porter County, a Winter Solstice hike is planned for the late afternoon hours of Thursday December 21, 2023. Region residents are invited to join a ranger on the Indiana Dunes National Park’s Dune Ridge Trail from 3 to 5 pm. “Catch the sunset and enjoy the sweeping views of the Great Marsh from the top of the Dune Ridge Trail. After the hike, walk down to the shore of Lake Michigan and celebrate the shortest day of the year as we look forward to lengthening days,” the announcement said. Meet at the Kemil Beach parking lot, located one mile north of U.S. 12 on East State Park Road/300 East.
