The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) says it is prepared for a quick burst of snow expected to move across much of the state this afternoon and through the evening hours. The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories for most counties from the Lafayette area all the way south to the Ohio River and is calling for a range of one-to-four inches of snow across the state, with locally higher amounts possible. INDOT says it will be at a full or partial call out in most areas, with more than 500 trucks treating state highways, interstates and U.S. routes by this evening Friday February 16, 2024.
Motorists are urged to closely monitor forecasts and consider travel carefully. “Remember to slow down, increase following distance, allow extra time to reach destinations and give plow trucks plenty of room to work,” INDOT said. Check real-time travel conditions and view traffic and snow plow cameras online at 511in.org or via INDOT’s TrafficWise app. Regular updates will also be shared on INDOT’s social media channels.
