In northwest Indiana, the South Shore Line reminds passengers that effective Tuesday, May 14, 2024, a new train schedule is in effect. The commuter line says the completion of Double Track Northwest Indiana allows for the addition of 14 weekday trains, revised times, reduced travel times and new, limited-stop express service; plus, portions of weekend train times have also been modified. The South Shore Line also said highlights also include increased origination service out of the new Miller Station in Gary and new 11th Street-Michigan City Station, new limited-stop express train service, and Bikes on Trains expanded to include all trains, all year long, at existing bike stations. Indiana Governor Holcomb joined several other elected officials at Miller Station Monday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the end of the Double Track NWI project.
