Volunteers Sought to Help Place Flags at Veterans’ Gravesites

In Hobart, American Legion Post 54 says it is looking for volunteers to assist in placing flags on approximately 1,200 military veterans’ gravestones at Evergreen Cemetery ahead of the Memorial Day holiday. Also, if anyone has extra screwdrivers you’re asked to bring those, too; they’re used to poke a starter hole in the ground to help place the flags. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. The annual project will begin at around 8 a.m. at the cemetery on West 39th Avenue in Hobart this Saturday May 25, 2024. Volunteers are also requested for Saturday June 1, 2024, to pick up the flags.
