In Valparaiso, the Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County says there’s a public forum Wednesday June 12, 2024, on reducing the use of single-use plastic to reduce plastic pollution in the Region. The event begins at 6:30pm at Valparaiso University. A news release said the Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County, Valparaiso University, and Mermaid Straw have collaborated to establish the Plastic Reduction Alliance of Northwest Indiana which is hoping to expand its outreach and “spark discussion about innovative solutions and collaborative efforts to reduce plastic pollution in Northwest Indiana.” Here is a link to the Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County website for more information.
