In Valparaiso, the MAAC Foundation First Responders Training Campus is holding its 5th Annual First Responder Appreciation and Demonstration Day Saturday, September 14, 2024, 9 AM to 2 PM at the MAAC campus on Montdale Park Drive. The free event serves as the foundation’s largest fundraiser of the year and will feature live demonstrations from various first responder disciplines, showcasing their skills. More than 3,000 people are expected to attend. The event will include First Responder and K9 Demonstrations, Touch a Truck, helicopter landings, opportunities to meet and thank first responders, live music, Little Obie the CN locomotive, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and food and refreshments.
“The MAAC Foundation, First Responder Training Campus is transforming the landscape of First Responder training across Northwest Indiana, the state, and the country. With a comprehensive, inclusive campus, they provide access for all First Responders – EMT personnel, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and K9 officers – to train at their state-of-the-art facility at no cost. The MAAC is a top provider of safety, emergency preparedness, and response training with more than 15 buildings, such as classroom space, residential structures, a live burn building, a flashover chamber, and a 4-story tower,” a news release said.
