Ivy Tech Community College’s Lake County campus and the Ivy Tech Foundation recently presented their Distinguished Alumnus and Benefactor Awards during a ceremony in Indianapolis. Each of Ivy Tech’s 19 campuses nominate a graduate and a donor for the Distinguished Alumni and Benefactor Awards, which the Ivy Tech Foundation administers annually. The Lake County campus honored Rebekah Arevalo who is Valparaiso University’s assistant vice president for Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives, chief of staff and board liaison. Ivy Tech Lake County also recognized Powers Health with a Benefactor Award which Ivy Tech says applauds the generosity of donors and volunteers whose support enables the Ivy Tech Foundation to bridge financial gaps that promote the academic success and career readiness of Ivy Tech students. Powers Health, previously known as Community Healthcare System, has been a friend of the Lake County campus for more than 21 years, supporting the Chancellors’ Scholarship event and Meet the Need initiative for students, among other Ivy Tech programs, a news release said. “Our distinguished alumni and benefactors embody Ivy Tech’s mission to transform lives and strengthen Indiana’s economy,” said Dr. Sue Ellspermann, president of Ivy Tech.
