Region residents are invited to join the Lake County Master Gardeners on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 6 pm CST, as they present a free webinar with renowned author Doug Tallamy, on “Next Steps for Nature: Questions (and answers) for How to Save Nature in our Yard.” His books include “Bringing Nature Home” and “Nature’s Best Hope,” which have inspired countless individuals to incorporate native plants into their landscapes, a news release said. Tallamy, a professor at the University of Delaware, is renowned for his research on the critical role of native plants in supporting insect life and the broader ecosystem. Tallamy emphasizes the importance of creating “homegrown national parks” – a network of wildlife-friendly gardens across residential areas – and has been recognized by organizations such as Audubon, the National Wildlife Federation, and the Garden Club of America. “He continues to be a leading voice in advocating for a more nature-friendly world,” said the Lake County Master Gardeners.
