Indiana American Water highlighted the U.S. EPA’s recent Fix a Leak Week this month, encouraging customers to be aware of how even the smallest of leaks can add up to a lot of wasted water. Indiana American Water President Barry Suits says fixing leaks not only conserves water, a precious resource, it also reduces bills and prevents potential damage to your property. “By taking proactive steps to repair leaks, we contribute to a sustainable future and ensure the reliability of our water systems. Let’s work together to make every drop count,” Suits said. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says leaks are present in about ten percent of households, which can waste 90 gallons or more per day. Indiana American Water says a leaky faucet can waste more than three-thousand gallons a year, and a few other common places to check for leaks include toilets, tubs and showers, washing machine, and boiler system. Learn more at the company’s website on detecting leaks. Indiana American Water says customers can also check for usage spikes and manage accounts through MyWater, the company’s online customer portal.
