The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) says it is prepared for severe storms, heavy rain, and widespread flooding expected across the state starting later today Wednesday April 2, 2025. INDOT says the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued flood watches for counties south of a line from Terre Haute to Indianapolis and Muncie, with double-digit rainfall totals possible in parts of the state, primarily southern Indiana, and possible flash floods and river flooding. INDOT also said its operations crews are clearing drains and preparing equipment to close flooded state roads as necessary. Drivers are urged to follow “Road Closed” signs and barricades to avoid becoming stranded in flood waters. Motorists can check real-time travel conditions, including flooded roadways, and view traffic cameras online at 511in.org or via INDOT’s TrafficWise app. Updates will also be shared on INDOT’s social media channels.
