The Academy’s Board Of Governors has approved several new voting rules for the Oscars. Members will now be required to watch all nominated films in each category to be eligible to vote for the winner in the final round. Previously, viewing standards were not mandatory for all branches, and many voters throughout the years have even publicly lamented about being able to watch all the films. It’s uncertain how the Academy will verify if members have seen the films. Other changes include new rules for the Achievement in Casting category and the recognition of generative AI in film-making. The 100th Oscars will also introduce an Achievement in Stunt Design category in 2028. (EW)
