In Lake County, hospital officials say a 12-foot, walk-through inflatable colon is scheduled to be at Franciscan Health Munster this week to help increase colon cancer awareness and highlight the benefits of colonoscopies. The display, called “Strollin’ Through the Colon” will be available to visit from 9 am to 3 pm Monday through Wednesday, February 24-26, 2025, inside the main entrance at Franciscan Health Munster. Franciscan Health staff will be on hand with educational materials while the exhibit is on display. Franciscan Health says the giant inflatable colon “helps illustrate health issues that can impact the critical organ, including colon cancer, Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, colitis, internal hemorrhoids and polyps and how colonoscopy screenings can help detect them.”
