A windy day is in the forecast for the Region and across Indiana. The National Weather Service says wind gusts could reach 45 miles per hour this afternoon Friday February 28 2025 and gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Wind Advisories have been issued that will be in effect for much of the day. The weather service is also warning of heightened fire danger this afternoon due to strong southwest to west-northwest winds, low relative humidities, and unseasonably mild temperatures. A Special Weather Statement from the National Weather Service Chicago said brush and grass will be especially susceptible with strong winds likely leading to the rapid spread of any fires that do occur.
