Region skywatchers are in for a treat this week. A total lunar eclipse occurs late Thursday evening March 13, 2025, into the early hours of March 14th. Astronomers say the amount of dust and clouds in the atmosphere will determine how red or orange the full moon will appear during the lunar eclipse. The lunar eclipse won’t require any special equipment to see it, but being away from city lights will improve viewing conditions. The lunar eclipse will start late Thursday night, lasting roughly six hours, peaking at 1:55 am Central Time Friday morning. It will be visible from the Earth’s western hemisphere.
