Region residents can help people and animals affected by wildfires in Hawaii. The American Red Cross is collecting donations in their relief effort; they say over 220 of their trained disaster workers from Maui and around the United States were already helping earlier this month with more on their way. The Salvation Army says it has launched widespread efforts to provide food and other essential items and services to evacuees in Hawaii as residents seek refuge from wildfires. And the Maui Humane Society said in a Facebook post, for those on the mainland looking to help, supplies can be delivered directly by their Amazon Wishlist “and monetary donations will be crucial to cover the costs of the lifesaving medical treatments necessary to save animal lives affected by the fires.”
