Indiana Audubon and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are getting the word out about a state endangered songbird. The Indiana DNR says Loggerhead Shrike populations are in steep decline and are in danger of being lost from the state forever; they’re endemic to North America, the DNR also said, meaning they’re not found anywhere else in the world. There’s an Adopt-a-Shrike program through Indiana Audubon to help provide nesting habitat. Region residents can also learn more about Loggerhead Shrikes and see more photos at the state’s website at this link.
