In Long Beach, Save the Dunes says they recently helped to literally save a dune through a partnership with the town and funding provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Indiana DNR’s Lake Michigan Coastal Program. A news release says the project restored the natural dune habitat and enhanced public access at “Stop 24”, one of the town’s public dune and lakeshore access sites. The non-profit says the new marram grass is already coming up at the transformed site.
