The U.S. House Monday unanimously approved legislation introduced by Indiana First District Congressman Frank J. Mrvan to extend a number of veteran benefit programs expected to expire at the end of this fiscal or calendar year. Among other things, it would permanently extend VA’s Dental Insurance Program, which allows qualifying veterans, survivors, and dependents to purchase discounted dental insurance coverage, and extend for one year the authority of VA to provide travel reimbursement for veterans who reside in rural areas to reach the nearest Vet Center. “Thank you to Chairman Takano and all of the Committee leaders for their cooperation to advance this critical legislation for our veterans. Throughout my career, I have met with countless veterans who struggled with dental issues and access to care. I am grateful that this legislation ensures veterans can continue to access these essential services,” said Rep. Mrvan. A news release said the Senate is expected to consider this legislation shortly. For additional information on this legislation, click here .
