Officials say eight license branches in Indiana will be temporarily closed in October 2021 due to a continued staffing shortage, including branches in Plymouth and West Lafayette and others downstate. October is the second month in a row the BMV has temporarily closed branches due to an employee shortage. Over the past 30 days, the BMV says it has received an increased number of job applicants and is in the process of hiring across the state. “We received an influx of applications after the September closures. Our team has partnered with the State Personnel Department and together we are working diligently to fill open positions as quickly as possible. This has enabled us to reduce the number of branches temporarily closed this month. We ask for patience from Hoosier communities and applicants as we work through that process,” said Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) Commissioner Peter L. Lacy.
