Goodwill’s Centers for Career Connections are offering the NorthStar Digital Literacy Project Basic Computer Skills Certification. In the training you will complete numerous tasks that will be assessed online through self-guided modules. Included are basic computer digital literacy standards and modules in the areas of Basic Computer Use, Internet Basics, Windows and Mac Operating Systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint along with email, social media and Information Literacy. We offer Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond and Platinum level certificates upon demonstrating competency and passing each level.
Resolve Human Resources Hiring Event
• Tuesday, October 12th / 11:30 am to 2:30 pm — Resolve Human Resources serves as a scalable human resource infrastructure for businesses of any size. As a staffing and recruiting company, Resolve Human Resources will have open interviews and employment assignments available upon interview with recruiters. Resumes can be submitted prior to this event and all walk-ins are accepted.
Supporting K-12 Distance Learning Workshop
• Wednesday, October 13th / 10:00 am to 11:00 am
Are you responsible for assisting a child / student that is currently completing e-learning? If so, this workshop is for you. Due to COVID some families have decided to have students’ complete class and classwork assignments online. In this workshop individuals will learn how to get connected to class, submit assignments, understand classroom expectations, troubleshoot computer issues and the distance learning platform. Upon completion of this workshop, an assessment can be provided to test knowledge.
Military / Veteran Gift Card Distribution
• Tuesday, October 19th / 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Due to a generous grant, Goodwill’s Veterans Resource Network is able to assist active serving members of the military including National Guard and Reservists, veterans, their families and caregivers with purchasing food. Goodwill’s Veterans and Military Families Program Manager, Jill Powers, will be distributing gift cards for Strack & Van Til. Gift cards will be provided on a first come first serve basis. Proof of military service is required: DD-214, VA Healthcare Card, Military ID Card, or Driver’s License with veteran designation. While at the Center for Career Connections, take some time to learn how Goodwill’s Veterans Resource Network can assist as well as the services that are available at the Centers. Minority Contractors Collaboration Construction Training Information Session
• Wednesday, October 20th / 10:00 am to 11:00 am– Patricia Thornton with Minority Contractors Collaboration will host an informational session to educate individuals about the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) Construction Training. In the session, Patricia will outline the training details, importance of the training, how to receive funding as well as career options once the training is complete. Individuals will also have the opportunity to register for training after the session.
Entrepreneurship Fundamentals Workshop
• Thursday, October 21st / 10:00 am to 11:00 am
In this workshop, individuals will get a glimpse of the documentation needed, understand target audience, characteristics, and fundamentals on how to start a successful business. Handouts and layouts will be provided for anyone who attends the workshop.
Financial Literacy Workshop
• Thursday, October 28th / 10:30 am to 11:30 am
First Financial Bank will host an informative discussion on the importance of budgeting, saving, managing debt, and the benefits that bank accounts can offer.

Assessments will be offered in the focus areas of critical thinking, attention to detail, problem solving, data entry, customer focus and bookkeeping.

Mailchimp is an email marketing service that makes it fast and easy to email your clientele. The workshop will show you how to use this service to reach out to clients and familiarize you with its features.
Make Your Own Google Form
• Tuesday, October 12th / 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
Do you want to create a survey, a questionnaire, an order form, a quiz, or an opinion poll? Google Forms is free online software that allows you to create any of these things and collects the answers for you. You can send these forms out to people or even embed them into a webpage and have people fill them out as they visit that page.

Using this platform, you can make almost anything you need for marketing your business or enhancing your social media posts, party invitations and resumes. From business cards to posters, Facebook posts and everything in between, Canva is a place to create.
Present Greatness with Google Slides
• Tuesday, October 26th / 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
Google slides is a presentation creating program, much like Microsoft PowerPoint, Goodwill officials say, but unlike PowerPoint, it is entirely web-based and free. Presentations are still extremely useful in the world today, not only in school and work projects, but in public speaking events, at church, funerals, reunions, and various other events.
