While the Northeast is shoveling out from this weekend’s nor’easter, the central U.S. is bracing for the next major winter storm. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Northwest Indiana for Tuesday evening through Thursday afternoon. Winter Storm Watches have also been issued for much of the Hoosier state. The Weather Prediction Center is growing more confident that snow amounts greater than four inches are coming for parts of Colorado and New Mexico, then a large band from Missouri into Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. Meteorologists add the storm could come in several waves. Here is a link for updates from the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service says travel could be very difficult to impossible and hazardous conditions may impact the morning and evening commutes in Northwest Indiana Wednesday and Thursday. Snow accumulations of more than six inches are possible. Forecasters also say two rounds of snow are possible, the first one Tuesday night through Wednesday morning followed by another Wednesday night into Thursday.
