In Hammond, the city has approved a new 25-million dollar development downtown. Mayor Thomas McDermott, Jr. and the Hammond Redevelopment Commission have partnered with ATG Real Estate to build 208 market rate apartments, new commercial, retail space and plaza at Rimbach Street and Hohman Avenue. McDermott said Tuesday in a release, the investment “will bring hundreds of people into downtown and add to the thriving core we are developing.” ATG expects to break ground this fall and will have the first apartments available for occupancy by the summer of 2023.
