National Park Service Extends Public Comment Period on Marquette Greenway Trail – Salt Creek Connection Environmental Assessment

The National Park Service has extended public comment period about the environmental assessment for the Marquette Greenway – Salt Creek Connection through March 27, 2022. The National Park Service is proposing to grant a right-of-way to the City of Portage, Department of Parks and Recreation, to construct a trail through Indiana Dunes National Park in Porter County and will allow the city to construct a fully compliant Americans with Disability Act trail. Following construction of the Salt Creek Connection the City of Portage will maintain the trail, including vegetation control, trash and snow removal, and maintenance of the trail surface.
