The South Shore Line says effective Tuesday, April 9, 2024, full train service is resuming to all South Shore Line stations and temporary busing is no longer in effect. The temporary long-term busing started about two years ago to accommodate work on the Northwest Indiana Double Track project, adding a second track between Gary and Michigan City. Train service is now operating using the current schedule implemented in October 2023, the commuter rail said, and all previously relocated station pick-up areas are returned to their permanent locations, including the new Portage/Ogden Dunes and Miller stations. Updates regarding the post-Double Track train schedule and addition of new trains are expected in the next several weeks, the advisory said. Here is a link to the South Shore Line’s website.
