In Valparaiso, the Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County will host its 16th annual Northwest Indiana Earth Day celebration from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Porter County Expo Center at State Road 49 and Division Road. The event is free to the public and will feature vendors, guest speakers, birdhouse building, live music, electric vehicles on display, and more. Region residents can also promote “reuse” and keep items out of the landfill by donating items to organizations during the Reuse Fair from 9 am-11:30 am. The Reuse Fair connects participating non-profits and schools that request supplies with community members who have items they no longer want.
