Waverly Road Closure for Little Calumet River Bridge Replacement

In the town of Porter, officials say Porter County will be replacing the Little Calumet River bridge just south of Interstate 94 and Waverly Road will be closed from May 13, 2024, to October 25, 2024, for bridge construction. A news release says the first part of the project will be the removal of the existing pedestrian bridge and that pedestrian bridge will be taken to Valparaiso where it will be repurposed in other locations by the city. It’s expected to take about 12 hours to remove the four sections of bridge with a crane. The town of Porter also said existing trail will be relocated to a sidewalk on the new bridge.
