From Valparaiso City Utilities Department of Water Works:
As of this evening (Monday April 18, 2022), Valparaiso City Utilities field service crews are responding to a large 12-inch water main break at State Road Highway 2 and Horseprairie Avenue. Customers may have experienced low water pressure or a complete interruption in water service.
Due to the size of the line and reports of water interruption in various areas of the south pressure zone of the City, a precautionary boil advisory has been issued for ALL Valparaiso customers that are located in the south zone of the City.
THIS SOUTH ZONE INCLUDES ALL CUSTOMERS ALONG EVANS AVENUE AND SOUTH OF EVANS AVENUE; INCLUDES ALL of US Highway 30 and South of US Highway 30.
If you are in doubt of where you are located geographically, follow the precautionary boil advisory.
The water microbiology laboratory will conduct the necessary testing to assure the water passes the required bacteria testing. The boil advisory will last approximately 48 hours and may be extended if additional testing is needed.
It is recommended that all cooking and drinking water be brought to a complete boil for five (5) minutes before using. Please continue to boil all cooking and drinking water until we notify you that it is no longer necessary.
