The National Weather Service Chicago says it has confirmed an additional tornado in northwest Indiana from the July 15, 2024, storms. The latest update shows an EF-0 tornado occurred just before 10 pm that night in Lowell, where there was a “concentrated corridor of damage” caused by the twister and straight-line winds, the summary says. The National Weather Service says the tornado is believed to have traveled from south of State Road 2 to Evergreen Park, on the ground for two minutes and traveling two-point-four miles, with a maximum width of 100 yards and estimated peak winds of 80 miles per hour. That brings the number of tornadoes across the Chicago National Weather Service forecast area to 32 during the July 15th derecho.
