Nearly 1,100 volunteers fanned out across the Region this past Friday for the United Way’s annual Day of Caring, completing 70 projects that helped out more than 40 nonprofits. As the largest single-day volunteer event in Northwest Indiana, Day of Caring brings together residents and businesses to help area nonprofits with cleanup projects and more, like landscaping, painting, and collection drives, for example. Volunteers worked on projects in Lake, Porter, LaPorte, and Starke counties.
“We are so grateful to our community,” said Anicia Kosky, Chief Impact Officer of United Way of Northwest Indiana. “Our nonprofit partners work so hard and couldn’t do what they do without volunteers.”
