Dry conditions are intensifying in the Region and elsewhere. The U.S. Drought Monitor issued Thursday September 19, 2024, shows Moderate Drought across most of Lake County, all of Porter, LaPorte and Starke counties, and in northern Jasper County, and Abnormally Dry conditions elsewhere in northwest Indiana and across west central and much of central Indiana. Moderate drought is also being seen in northern, central and southern Indiana, with Severe Drought in some locations. Locally, the map is also showing Moderate Drought in northeast Illinois.
