The deadline is approaching to purchase tickets for this year’s Ivy Tech Community College Chancellors’ Scholarship event. Ivy Tech says “Blue Jeans and Bling” with a ‘glam casual’ dress code is Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Avalon Manor Banquet Center in Merrillville. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit students at the Lake County and Valparaiso/ Michigan City campuses. Attendees are welcome to wear jeans and pair them with any kind of sparkly tops or accessories to celebrate this year’s crop of Ivy Tech top scholars. Blue Jeans and Bling includes dinner and dancing as well as the presentation of the scholarship winners.
The announcement from Ivy Tech says tickets cost $85, $45 of which is tax-deductible, and can be purchased at https://connect.ivytech.edu/chancellorsevent2022 by September 27. Peoples Bank is this year’s Benefactor of the Year. After two years of modified events due to the pandemic, this year’s gathering will be a relaxed, fun way to support local students, according to Cindy Hall, Executive Director of Resource Development, adding the shiny “bling” worn by guests symbolizes the sparkling quality of Ivy Tech’s star students.
“So many of our students really depend on the financial assistance we can provide, thanks in large part to events like this,” Hall said. “Some wouldn’t be able to attend college without it. Many are still trying to recover financially from the effects of the pandemic. We are really glad to be able to return to normal with this year’s event and celebrate like we used to, but this time maybe a little more relaxed with a touch of glamor thrown in.”
