Waterspout Risk for Lake Michigan Near Northwest Indiana

In northwest Indiana, a report of a waterspout off the Lake Michigan shoreline early Monday afternoon. A Preliminary Storm Report from the National Weather Service Chicago around 1 pm CT said there was a photo of at least one waterspout shared from the International Centre for Waterspout Research, October 14, 2024, the location about 15 miles offshore from Indiana Dunes State Park in Porter County. The Hazardous Weather Outlook for the Indiana and Illinois nearshore waters of Lake Michigan this morning Tuesday October 16, 2024, says there is a limited waterspout risk again today with hazardous conditions expected for small craft.
