In northern Indiana, September featured a month-long volunteerism effort by over 300 NIPSCO and NiSource employees. They dedicated a total of more than 1,200 hours of service to 33 local non-profit organizations as part of the company’s 14th annual Charity of Choice campaign, from facility cleaning to event organization, home construction and helping Monarch butterflies, a news release said. Organizations included Silverstray Social and The Wetlands Initiative in Gary. Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana, Hilltop Neighborhood House in Valparaiso, Munster-based Humane Indiana, area Salvation Army offices, and many more.
