Officials say a Travel Advisory is in effect for unincorporated Porter County until further notice. A Travel Advisory means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or avoid those areas. Please exercise caution when driving, or avoid driving if possible. Roads may be snow covered and slippery. Unincorporated Porter County means roads that are outside the municipal boundaries of cities and towns. Most counties in Northwest Indiana and many others in Northern Indiana are also under travel advisories on the Indiana Department of Homeland Security’s Travel Map; Lake, Newton and Benton counties are now under a Travel Watch, the next level higher.
