In Lake County, an injured great horned owl is rescued from the middle of an icy lake by the staff at Hidden Lake Park, Merrillville Animal Control, Merrillville Fire Department, and the not-for-profit Erin’s Farm Rescue and Sanctuary in Hobart. In a post at their Facebook page, Humane Indiana Wildlife, who is now caring for the bird as he recovers, also said everyone acted quickly to get the owl rescued from “a potentially horrible situation” and into their care.
